Talisman

Pinot Noir Russian River Valley 2000

Deep ruby purple color; some blackberry and cherry, some dusty, earthy, peat notes; rich, ripe, reduced baked cherry and berry notes, lush and silky, lots of toasty oak, balanced with a long finish. Big, rich style with lots of really interesting nuances, but the thing I really like about this wine – and Scott Rich’s wines in general – is the silky texture. Fruit for this wine came from Klopp Vineyard in western Russian River Valley.

Talisman

Pinot Noir Carneros 2000

Medium-deep ruby color; deep, concentrated, rich aromas of cherry, spice and oak; big and full with lots of deep red cherry fruit, spicy oak in abundance and good structure; long finish, Scott Rich always makes a silky yet powerful Carneros Pinot – this bottling comes from the Truchard vineyard in the northern reaches of the Carneros region. Give it time in the glass and it will deliver!
