Scott's American Indian mother once gave him a paho, an object intended to protect the bearer. The paho's special power is not innate, but comes about after being blessed by a medicine man. In a similar fashion, the transformation of grapes into wine comes about due to the hand of the winemaker.

The Talisman logo is a stylized representation of the paho, whose elements represent the circle of life and the four directions, reminding us of our place in the universe. The rays around the logo represent the sun, which provides energy for life on earth and ripens grapes, allowing us to revel in the pleasures of life, including fine wine.
