This wine is fascinating! Its very unique flavor profile has evolved continuously over the years; currently with an alluring character of mesquite spice, cranberry, fresh tobacco, sassafras and sandalwood, with intellect and intrigue. The first wine in a series of Mystery Vineyard bottlings...
In 2007 we bottled the two sides of Red Dog Vineyard separately, as we harvested them three weeks apart; in all other years we pick both sides within a day. Dijon Clones 115 and 777 are planted on the east slope and Pommard Clone sits on the west slope. This Dijon bottling possesses classic red fruit, spice, earth and sandalwood flavors. They are a fascinating duo; try them side by side!
Cabernet Sauvignon from Talisman?!?! Shhhhhh... yes, indeed, a rare, special opportunity came along and we jumped on it. Just released last fall, and with some extra bottle age in our cellar, this 2009 Cab is STUNNING! Only 46 cases made.
92+ points! This pretty wine starts with a drool-inducing spicy note reminiscent of strawberry jam smeared on a big, warm rock in the mountains on a sunny day. Lots of bass notes and a hint of cinnamon like little red hard candy valentine hearts melded with a streak of sweet cherry, all perfectly integrated.
