Talisman's goal is very simple: the creation of delicious Pinot Noirs that are true to their roots and accurately reflect their places of origin. Each of Talisman's vineyards have been selected for their unique site characteristics and potential to convey distinctive and singular terroirs. Emphasis is placed on achieving perfection in the vineyard and preserving the essence of place. Rather than manipulating the wines in the cellar to achieve stylistic goals, each individual vineyard dictates wine style and bottlings are typically a diminutive 200 to 300 cases.

"Dear Scott and Marta,
I wanted to let you know that my father and I opened our first two bottles of each of the 2007 Red Dog Vineyard expressions. We liked both of them a lot. After the '05, I had very high expectations, and those expectations were not merely met, but exceeded… I think the word "perfect" may have been thrown around.
My personal thought about the Pommard clone expression was that it seamlessly combined a number of my favorite attributes of new- and old-world Pinot, without any of the stereotypical undesirable attributes of either. Not a "jack of all trades" trying to be "all things to all people," but something unique and wonderful that just happens to work on many levels with broad appeal. If it were a record, it would be more than just a well-edited greatest hits; it would be the historic double-album…
Thank you for making great wine.

"Wine Harlots are in love with Talisman Red Dog Vineyard Sonoma Mountain Pinot Noir 2007. We might even consider the wine to be our lucky talisman. It’s world-class pinot noir."

"Damn you guys. I'm completely spoiled. I just did a tasting of a few, shall we say, lesser Pinots, and with each, I found myself making less than favorable comparisons to Talisman. You've RUINED me! How can I go on? ;)"

"Had an amazing time at the 8th Street Wineries open house, made better by
the gorgeous weather, and made fantastic by starting my day, and ending it
at Talisman! The two Red Dogs are delightful, and delightfully different.
Glad I got both!”

"We had dinner last night and brought 2007 Kosta Browne Amber Ridge and 2007 Talisman Hawk Hill. We wanted to taste them blind. OMFG, the result wasn't even close! All four us immediately picked
the same bottle. It was the Hawk Hill. The 2007 Hawk Hill is Pinot
Noir done just as great Pinot Noir should be. It was seamless with
or without the pairing. It was so well-balanced which made the other wine somewhat of a joke. I personally like my Pinot to taste like Pinot
is meant to taste. I guess we prefer Scott's Audrey Hepburn-like
Pinot (100% finesse and sophistication) vs KB's James Bond-like Pinot
(hedonistic and bold with aftertaste).
BTW, I'll be serving your wines @ my Oscar Party.”

“I just opened my first bottle of Talisman 2007 Gunsalus and all I can say is… O U T S T A N D I N G!!! I really, really like the Hawk Hill and the Wildcat, but Scott, this Gunsalus is off the charts!!! Continue doing such great job!”
